Burnout has become one of the most pressing issues in gymnastics—impacting not only athletes, but also coaches, owners, and support staff. In this session, we explore the real causes of energy depletion in gym environments and provide practical, sustainable strategies to restore motivation, joy, and emotional resilience across your entire program. Drawing from decades of hands-on experience running a busy gymnastics facility, I break down the internal and external stressors that contribute to burnout at each role in the gym:
- Athletes facing pressure, fear, overtraining, or performance expectations
- Coaches juggling emotional labor, communication demands, and long training hours
- Gym owners managing constant problem-solving, staff needs, and business responsibilities
This session offers a holistic, actionable approach to supporting well-being, including:
- How to identify early signs of athlete or coach burnout before performance declines
- Daily practices that help athletes build emotional resilience and confidence
- Simple communication scripts that support athletes through fear, frustration, or low motivation
- How gym owners and directors can establish boundaries that reduce staff overwhelm
- Culture-building tools that promote teamwork, appreciation, and strong relationships
- Strategies to help coaches recharge—even in high-intensity competitive seasons
We’ll also explore how small culture shifts—celebrating progress, reducing perfectionism, creating safe spaces to communicate concerns, and teaching athletes self-regulation skills—can dramatically impact retention and overall well-being. Participants will leave with:
- A clear understanding of what burnout looks like in different roles
- Tools to create a more positive, supportive training environment
- Systems coaches can implement immediately to reduce emotional fatigue
- Techniques for building confidence and motivation during tough seasons
- Leadership habits that help owners model balance, empathy, and calm
This session is both uplifting and practical, blending coaching insight, leadership experience, and real-world solutions to help gyms maintain healthy energy—for the athletes and the adults who support them every day.
